Prem Lal Joshi, Member of the Editorial Board of “Financial Markets, Institutions and Risks” Journal, wrote an article about Covid-19 Pandemic and Financial Reporting Issues and Challenges

The article examines the impact of the COWID-19 pandemic on the financial system. The consequences and problems in some main areas of accounting are substantiated. The author notes that the impact of COVID-19 has led to a significant deterioration in economic conditions for many companies and increased economic uncertainty for others, and thus may be an event that may lead to a decrease in utility.

Medani Bhandari, member of the editorial board of “SocioEconomic Challenges (SEC)” wrote an article about the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

Professor Medani Bhandari has published a paper about Coronavirus (COVID-19) titled “THE PHOBIA CORONA (COVID 19) ̶ WHAT WE CAN DO”. For the time being, it is very important and time sensitive. The main problem addressed in the paper is what we can do to stop this pandemic and what price we will have to pay for it. The author says “Responsibility for the people we are in contact should be the key element. The overwhelming amount of information in the media, contributes to the deepening of fear. People need to be aware not only of the responsibility for the lives of others, they must also re-evaluate their own lives”.

Hanna Shvindina, member of the Editorial Board of “Business Ethics and Leadership (BEL)”, organized the Online webinar on Bibliometric Analysis

Hanna Shvindina, the “Business Ethics and Leadership” Editorial Board member, provided the seminar on bibliometric analysis for the researchers on Friday, March 27, 2020. It was aimed at sharing the knowledge about the bibliometric analysis via VosViewer software and Publish or Perish. These tools are well-known and yet few scholars use them in their research. This knowledge sharing became possible due to Professor Vincent Duffy from Purdue University who supervised and guided Hanna Shvindina in bibliometric analysis during the academic exchange within the Fulbright programme. More than 30 participants attended the seminar online and acquired knowledge about this flow of academic search.

The cooperation with Professor Vincent Duffy (Purdue University), his assistance and support in organizing the online webinar on bibliometric analysis as well as his experience are of great value for us.

Hanna Shvindina, member of the Editorial Board of “Business Ethics and Leadership (BEL)” took part in Webinar “UNESCO learning cities respond to COVID-19”

On the 24th of March the head of the department, Dr.Sci. Shvindina Hanna who is also a CEO of NGO “Lifelong Learning Centre” took part in Webinar “UNESCO learning cities respond to COVID-19”. The challenges that are crucial for the cities all around the world were discussed among the 250 participants from different countries.

The experience on overcoming the challenges was presented by the representatives of Wuhan, Shanghai and Beijing (China), Fermo (Italy) and Kashan (Iran). The agenda and presentations of the webinar and summary report are presented at the site of UNESCO and available for the public.

The webinar is aimed at sharing the decisions, tools, best practices and contacts under the closing the schools and HEIs due to COVID-19 and at experience sharing between members and non-members of UNESCO learning cities network towards the pandemic problems solving.

Sumy is non-member city but the application to enter the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC) is already accomplished and we are waiting for the results.

The electronic repository of scientific publications of Sumy State University ranked first in Ukraine among similar electronic resources based on the results of the updated Webometrics Ranking Web of Repostories in July, 2017.

SSU holds the 8th position in the ranking of scientific repositories of Central and Eastern European countries. In the overall world ranking SSU repository holds the 319th position out of more than 2,000 global repositories and repositories of educational institutions.

Igor Rekunenko, the member of editorial board of Financial Markets, Institutions and Risks (FMIR) on the round table on “Reforms in the field of education. Advantages and disadvantages”

Dr Igor I. Rekunenko, the member of editorial board of Financial Markets, Institutions and Risks (FMIR), Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance of Sumy State University attended a round table on “Reforms in the field of education. Advantages and disadvantages” on November 24, 2017, organized by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Ukraine. The event was held in Kiev. During the round table, the participants analyzed the Law of Ukraine “On Education”, its advantages and disadvantages. About 30 people took part in the round table.


Larysa Sysoeva, the member of editorial board of “SocioEconomic Challenges” Journal, and Professor Andreas Horsch published a monograph “Financial Institutions and Financial Regulation New Developments in the European Union and Ukraine Conference Proceedings”

Following the results of the joint DAAD grant project between the University of Freiberg and Sumy State University, a joint monograph of Andreas Horsch and Larysa Sysoyeva titled “Financial Institutions and Financial Regulation: New Developments in the European Union and Ukrain” was published in Germany in 2017.
