Останнім часом спостерігається стрімке зростання наукових публікацій з питань забезпечення академічної доброчесності в українських закладах вищої освіти, однак, лише декілька з них присвячені питанням дослідження факторів, які провокують виникнення випадків академічної недоброчесності. Для розроблення ефективної політики академічної доброчесності мають бути проведені попередні дослідження причин її порушення. На сьогодні більшість таких причин і факторів вивчаються стосовно студентів в інших країнах світу, але не в контексті України. Тому актуальним є питання дослідження факторів та причин порушення академічної доброчесності серед студентів в українських закладах вищої освіти. Метою данною статті є огляд літератури щодо причин академічної нечесності та факторів, які обумовлюють порушення академічної доброчесності. У статті показано основні напрямки дослідження факторів академічної недоброчесності серед американських студентів, базуючись здебільшого на академічній літературі США та у порівнянні з наявними українськими науковими публікаціями за аналогічною тематикою. Даний літературний огляд надає загальне уявлення про масштаб факторів та різноманітність причин академічної нечесності у закладах вищої освіти. Публікації для літературного огляду були отримані з баз даних Scopus, ResearchGate, Google Scholar та журналів видавництва Springer шляхом контент-аналізу за словами “фактори”, “причини”, “академічна нечесність”, “порушення академічної доброчесності”, “неетична академічна поведінка” тощо. У результаті проведеного огляду літератури було виявлено численні причини порушень академічної доброчесності та дві групи факторів, які на них впливають: внутрішні індивідуальні та зовнішні контекстуальні фактори. Можливість зміни впливу фактору залежить від його походження (зовнішній чи внутрішній), специфічних особливостей студента та від масштабу впливу (національний, інституціональний чи індивідуальний). Огляд наявних досліджень факторів академічної нечесності в українських закладах вищої освіти дозволив визначити фактори, які потребують більш детального вивчення для розробки ефективної політики академічної доброчесності. Отримані результати слугують більш глибокому розумінню найпоширеніших причин, що можуть призводити до вчинення студентами академічних зловживань, та сприятимуть розробленню політик академічної доброчесності в закладах освіти України.
