Ця стаття спрямована на тестування наукового підходу, запропонованого вченими Песараном, Шін і Смітом для дослідження статичного та динамічного взаємозв’язку між експортом та економічним зростанням в Камеруні. Проблема, на яку спрямовано дослідження, полягає в тому, що існуюча гіпотеза про те, що зростання експорту обумовлює економічне зростання країни має бути підтверджено і для Камеруну, яка в основному експортує сировину й товари більше до західних країн, ніж до країн, які відносяться до Економічної спільноти країн Центральної Африки. В статті наводиться літературний огляд з проблем економічного зростання та ретроспективний огляд показників експорту та імпорту Камеруну. Методичний інструментарій проведеного дослідження представлений методом авторегресії (модель ARDL), який часто використовується у фінансовій практиці завдяки об’єктивним оцінкам коротко- та довгострокових параметрів змінних. В статті наголошується, що метод авторегресії дозволяє підтвердити гіпотезу про те, що зростання експорту призводить до економічного зростання Камеруну. Емпіричні розрахунки передбачають аналіз показників реального доходу, експорту та імпорту країни, аналіз лагів залежної (незалежної) змінної на основі статистичної звітності Всесвітнього банку у період з 1980 по 2016 роки. Емпіричні розрахунки дозволили прийти до висновків, що довгостроковий вплив експорту на економічне зростання є позитивним і значним. Показано, що виключення деяких релевантних контрольних змінних (які характеризують природні ресурси, людський капітал та інститути Камеруну) з рівняння моделі, ймовірно, призвело до похибки моделі. Автором визначені причини виникнення недоліків проведеного моделювання. Результати емпіричних розрахунків свідчать про існування позитивної залежності у довгостроковій перспективі в країні та підтверджують гіпотезу про вплив зростання експорту на показники економічного зростання Камеруну. Результати проведеного дослідження дозволяють автору сформулювати рекомендації для удосконалення державної політики щодо збільшення темпів економічного зростання з орієнтацією на експорт. Перспективою подальших досліджень є використання узагальненого методу моментів (моделі GMM – Generalized Method of Moments) для підтвердження зазначеної гіпотези.
