Дослідження факторів рентабельності банківських структур, зокрема в контексті ведення бізнесу та функціонування корпоративних фінансів, привертає увагу багатьох вчених як в розвинених країнах, так і в країнах, що розвиваються. Актуальність даної наукової теми пояснюється наявністю значного фінансового інтересу до проблематики прибутковості банків зі сторони широкого кола корпоративних стейкхолдерів, зокрема акціонерів компаній. Необхідність вдосконалення умов функціонування банківського сектору у Нігерії формує передумови до підвищення прибутковості банківських установ регіону. В статті досліджено вплив капітального покриття, кредитного ризику та операційної ефективності на результати діяльності комерційних банків Нігерії. Емпіричний аналіз в роботі проведено на основі використання вторинних панельних даних, отриманих з CBN та річних банківських звітів. Методичний інструментарій проведеного дослідження представлений методом регресії панельного випадкового ефекту. В статті представлено результати емпіричного аналізу впливу змінних факторів на результуючий показник, який засвідчив, що покриття капіталу має значний позитивний вплив на фінансові показники банку, а кредитний ризик та операційна ефективність характеризуються негативним статистично значущим впливом на показники прибутковості банків Нігерії. Дослідження підтверджує, що покриття капіталу в значній мірі стимулює, покращує, сприяє зростанню фінансових показників комерційних банків і при ефективному управління дозволяє підвищити фінансові результати банків. З метою удосконалення процесу корпоративного управління на основі впровадження кращих міжнародних практик в статті обґрунтовано рекомендації щодо удосконалення управління активами та зобов’язаннями банку, зокрема в частині покращення якості портфеля активів та депозитних зобов’язань. Результати проведеного дослідження можуть бути корисними для менеджменту банківських установ, зокрема в частині посилення регуляторної бази, підвищення її динамічності, що в перспективі матиме позитивний вплив на процеси управління банком та покращить фінансові показники комерційних банків Нігерії в цілому.
