Геостратегічне розташування країни відіграє подвійну роль у забезпеченні її економічного та соціального розвитку. З однієї сторони, вигідне географічне розташування країни дозволяє отримати переваги у вигляді укладання угод із країнами щодо співробітництва, а з іншої – спричинює загострення питання безпеки та протидії військової агресії з боку сусідніх держав. Беручи до уваги геостратегічне розташування Пакистану, дана держава відігравала особливе значення під час холодної війни, під час російського вторгнення в Афганістан наприкінці 70-х років, а сьогодні відіграє важливу роль у боротьбі з терористичною діяльністю як на її території, та загалом у світі. Метою статті є оцінювання впливу геополітики разом із етнічною напругою у суспільстві на стан соціального, економічного та політичного розвитку в країні. Відповідно до мети дослідження запропоновано обрати 2 залежні фіктивні змінні: «громадянська війна», «внутрішній конфлікт», тоді як незалежними фіктивними змінними є: «рівень безробіття», «судовий процес проти органів державної влади», «зовнішній конфлікт», «роль військових у політиці», «етнічна напруженість», «геополітична значущість», «демократична підзвітність», «релігійна напруженість», «стабільність уряду». Методологічною основою проведеного дослідження є побудова регресій трьох типів: робасна модель, модель упорядкованого логіту, модель з урахуванням поправки Прайса-Вінстона. Часовим діапазоном для дослідження обрано 1984-2016 роки. Результати проведеного емпіричного дослідження засвідчили, що геополітичне становище країни та загострення етнічних конфліктів мають суттєвий та статистично значущий вплив на стан внутрішніх конфліктів в Пакистані, та ймовірно можуть призводити до виникнення громадянської війни. На основі результатів моделювання можна зробити висновок, що Пакистану в особі органів державної влади потрібно реформувати економічну систему країни задля забезпечення її суверенності та цілісності.
